Dobrich is one of the ten largest cities in Bulgaria, with population of over 90 000. It is located in the north-eastern part of the country, on the banks of Suha Reka river.
 
The place was first populated in 4th century BC. Remains of 2nd century AD provide a glimpse at the past of the area. One of the big discoveries is a necropolis with pagan graves. During the Ottoman Administration the city was a flourishing trading center. In the beginning of the 20th century, Dobrich was part of Romania, and was returned in 1940 to Bulgaria. It was renamed from the Communist Power to Tolbuhin, but when it fell, the city returned its original name.

The Historical Museum, founded in 1953, keeps over 160 000 exponents in its halls. There are antiques related to the history of the city, but also an accent on literature, art, ballet.

In the Ethnographic complex you can take a look at handmade costumes typical for Dobrudzha region, jewelry, pottery, fabrics. You can also taste some of the traditional foods like white jam.

The exhibition in the Art Gallery includes paintings and sculptures by famous Bulgaran makers. You should also take a look at the church “St. Georgi”, while the children will enjoy the state Puppet theater. Each year folk festivals and fairs take place in Dobrich. One of them is the Youth Music festival, which gathers young musicians from east Europe.
